Bil Leonhart has played and taught jazz and classical music — standard repertoire and improvisation — for 27 years in the Rogue Valley.
Bil’s students range from initiates to professionals, all of whom express the need to both deepen their understanding of music and to see themselves become decidedly more proficient as instrumentalists, vocalists or teachers.
Bil performs regularly throughout the region as a soloist, partnering as well with several other musicians in the duo format. Since the Great American Songbook is the source of much that Bil plays, theatre groups engage him as a soloist or member of the orchestra for their performances.
Bil trains students in improvisation regardless of which instrument(s) the student plays. Instruction thus includes: sight singing, interval recognition, ear training, pattern recognition, musical humor and theory.
