"Ah, music ... a magic beyond all we do here!"

- Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, pg. 128

Patricia Potter, M.Ed. a distant relation to Harry, has been waving her wand and producing magic as a music teacher for several decades! She has 21+ years experience teaching public school string classes and orchestras and currently operates a music studio in Ashland where she specializes in teaching violin and viola lessons and coaching string quartets and other ensembles. She serves as an adjudicator for string festivals and is a board member for the Oregon chapter of the American String Teachers Association. As a violinist and violist, she has performed with the Rogue Valley Symphony, the Oregon East Symphony, the Oregon Shakespeare Festival Association and numerous other professional ensembles.

Ms. Potter began music lessons at age eight and studied under members of the L.A. Philharmonic throughout her school years. She was a violin major at UCLA and later earned a Summa Cum Laude degree in music from McMaster University in Canada. Ms. Potter trained with master teachers Shinichi Suzuki and George Bornoff and more recently with electric violin master Mark Wood. Her masters degree in education is from Southern Oregon University.

Patricia Potter has been a strings specialist and conductor for the Ashland School District, the founder and conductor of the Southern Oregon Youth Orchestra, and the Program Director for the first Peter Britt Youth Orchestra.
