An outstanding one-week fiddle camp will take place in Ashland, Oregon during the week of July 9th to 13th, 2018. The camp, divided into two groups, will offer experienced string students of violin, viola or ’cello an enjoyable release from the structure of their classical studies and the chance to make new friends and play new music.
This camp will take place mornings from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Warm ups will include classical songs from the Suzuki repertoire and will be followed by fiddle tunes, enjoyable string games, and the chance to play instruments outdoors.
This camp will take place afternoons from 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The camp is inter-generational and is intended for mature younger students plus adults with previous string experience. Students will have the opportunity to form ensembles, try out chamber music, and learn alternative styles of music such as Celtic, Jazz and Improvisation, Country and Rock.
Ashland Philharmonic Fiddlers Camp is taught by Patricia Potter, M.Ed., a long-time valley strings instructor and performer.
